Dr Gopinath Madheswaran

Dr Gopinath Madeswaran is an Optometrist, currently working as Research Associate and Lecturer at Acchutha Institute of Optometry, Erode. He teaches visual optics, low vision, and research methodology programmes. He completed his BS Opt from Elite School of Optometry in 2013 and M.Optom from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, in 2017. He is the recipient of the best outgoing student for his PG studies (2015-17). He received his Fellowship Diploma in British Dispensing Optics (FBDO) in 2014. He is also a probationary Indian examiner for FBDO. He defended his doctoral thesis, “Explore the visual adaptations in persons with central vision loss”, in Jan 2023. He has guided various undergraduate and postgraduate research theses. He has worked in various national/ international research grants to develop "Innovative rehabilitative eye care technologies”. He has over 10 publications in peer-reviewed journals to his credit. He has also presented at national/international conferences and bagged various awards. He was awarded the Best Optometry Educator Award for 2023 by OCI-Essilor.
